Claude Code Status Line

Upgrading from 1.2.x or earlier?

The old /update-statusline downloads from GitHub releases, which are no longer available.

Run any install command below to update it to the latest version.

It moves your installation to the new layout, preserves your status line settings and colors, and backs up anything it replaces. Restart Claude Code afterward, and /update-statusline will work as before.

Quick Install

Installs the binary and slash commands, then configures Claude Code.

Node.js / Bun

Runs on macOS Linux Windows

Requires Node.js 18+ or Bun Only used to download the prebuilt binary.

Node.js

npx @ndave92/claude-code-status-line@latest setup

Bun

bunx --bun @ndave92/claude-code-status-line@latest setup

Rust via Cargo

Runs on macOS Linux Windows

Requires Rust Builds from source on crates.io. No Node.js or Bun needed.

macOS / Linux

cargo install claude-code-status-line --locked --root ~/.claude/statusline &&
~/.claude/statusline/bin/claude-code-status-line setup

Windows (PowerShell)

cargo install claude-code-status-line --locked --root "$env:USERPROFILE\.claude\statusline"

After installation, simply restart Claude Code

Then manage it from inside Claude Code with these slash commands:

/customize-statuslineChange sections, layout and colors
/update-statuslineUpdate to the latest version
/uninstall-statuslineRemove it and restore your settings
